What is flowing? Flowing is writing whatever the important aspects of the current speech is. You want to capture all of their main points/evidence so you can easily refer to your flow The purpose of flowing is so you do not have to guess at what argument your opponents made. You can think of your flow as a reference guide.

What do you need to know to get your flow game on? Readable Handwriting, What is the point if you/partner can't read your flow? Concentrate - do not get distracted Good listening skills - You need to be ready for anything! C. Hawkins (2015)

What are some ways to flow? One approach to flowing is to flow one case on the left side of your paper, one side on the right side of your paper, and then write all of the responses next to each case. For the final focus and summary you can either use the bottom of the page or flip the page over if you feel like you need more room. Another approach is to use two pieces of paper. Flow your case on one, and your opponent’s case on the other. Then you write your responses next to the flow. For the summary and final focus you can flip the papers over or write on the same side.

Practice You will pick up words you wouldn't normally pick up if people are reading at a faster than normal pace. You will be able to write more as you practice. This helps if you can’t understand people who speak fast. C. Hawkins (2015)

Tips Flow with different colors – this will help you distinguish who stated something.
