2. ??????What is the fur trade?????? The fur trade is a trade route between the first nations and the Europeans. In 1608 Samuel Champlain came to north america to study the first nations trade routes. He soon noticed the advantage of a trade route transported by birchbark canoe.

3. ?????What did they trade????? During the fur trade the hat that everyone wore (the top hat) required beaver fur to be made. Because of the great demand of beaver fur Europes beavers were almost extinct. The demand was still super high so they started trading fur with the first nations. The first nations were interested in the Europeans tools because they were stonger and more durable than there stone tools. These two interests worked and the hunger for trading rose. the average price was ten beaver pelts for a gun or three for a blanket.

4. ?How did they transport all the fur? The main way they transported fur in the fur trade was by birchbark canoe. They we made by skinning a birch tree's skin and clamping the birch rind at the gunwhales. Next the ribs are inserted and is sealed by resin. The fur that is transported is piled up and wrapped in a couple furs and compactedas far as it will go, the finished pile had a finale weight of 900 pounds.

5. ???Did they want any other fur??? Yes in fact they trapped almost any fur bearing animals. The most valuable of them all besides beaver was otter fur.it was so valuable some people called it soft gold. Here's a list of some of the furs....mink.buffalo.deer.weasel.gopher
