Multiple Interfaces (MIF) WG documents status MIF WG IETF 80, Prague Problem statement and current practices documents
2
Problem statement updates http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-ietf-mif-problem- statement-11 http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-ietf-mif-problem- statement-11 Document updated according to IETF 79 discussions: –Terminology: connection manager replaced by Session manager –Add new problems with session management –section on policies conflict expanded – Clarifications on issues when receiving policies (e.g. routing, address selection) from different provisioning domains
3
Problem statement updates Added Problems with session management – On-going session continuity: when the node selects a new interface, on-going TCP session breaks if the node implements the weak host model – IP connectivity: the node manages to configure IP interface but Internet connectivity is not available (poor L2 or web-based authentication)
4
Current practices updates http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-ietf-mif-current-practices-08 http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-ietf-mif-current-practices-08 Main comment after AD review: « discuss in more detail what the various implementations do at layer 3 »: –Address selection: which mechanism? RFC 3484 supported? –DNS resolution : is DNS configuration per-node or per-interface? –address space overlapping: when simultaneously attached to several interfaces, does the OS manage address space overlapping? If yes, how does it work?
5
Current practices updates Nokia S60, RIM blackberry, Androïd and Linux sections updated to answer the 3 questions –Windows section was already up-to-date Apple section removed –Due to lack of information Editorial nits fixed
