1 BPA State Leadership Conference March 6 – 8, 2016 Indianapolis, Indiana

2 Costs O A $50 deposit is due January 15 th in order to register your child. No cancellations can be made after January 15 th. If your child decides not to attend you are responsible for full payment. O Total payment is due by February 12 th. I will email or send home a total February 1 st.

3 Costs O Hotel, Transportation, T-Shirt and event registration cost $165 for each student. O If you participated in Yankee Candle fundraising your profit will be deducted from this amount. O We are planning future fundraising in January and February to help with costs. O Please provide your email in the google form at the end of this presentation so I can email you your total in February.

4 Costs O Your child is responsible for all food costs. O You may bring food with you. O Most hotel rooms have a fridge and a microwave. O We are hoping to get a sponsored dinner both nights, but nothing has been finalized.

5 Costs O Parents/Guardians will be responsible for any charges incurred through room service or consumption of hotel items for your child. O Parents/Guardians are responsible for any damages to the hotel room made by your child.

6 Dress Code O Business Professional O All members must wear Business Professional to their events. MenWomen Suit, dress shirt, & tie Dress Slacks, dress shirt, & tie Sport Coat, dress slacks, dress shirt, & tie Dress Shoes Dress Suit Skirt or dress slacks with blouse Dress Shoes ►Only Business Professional or Business Casual may be worn during the conference This includes arriving at the hotel on Sunday ►Casual Attire may be worn only on the sleeping floors or when leaving the hotel.

7 Dress Code O Business Casual O Business Casual can be worn in the event area when you are not competing or in the hotel lobby. MenWomen Casual slacks (khakis, cargo pants) Polo or other collared shirts Sweater Casual Shoes (NO tennis shoes Casual slacks (khakis, capris, skorts) Blouse Sweater Casual Shoes (NO tennis shoes) ►Only Business Professional or Business Casual may be worn during the conference This includes arriving at the hotel on Sunday ►Casual Attire may be worn only on the sleeping floors or when leaving the hotel.

8 Dress Code O You may wear t-shirt, jeans, tennis shoes when leaving the hotel. You cannot wear your BPA badge while in jeans or tennis shoes. O There is an indoor swimming pool so bring a swimsuit. O One night there will be a BPA event where you will wear your BPA State Leadership T-Shirt and khaki pants. O You must wear business casual or business professional on the bus. Business Professional or Business Casual attire must be worn by all delegates upon arrival at the conference and at all times during the conference. Jeans, tennis shoes, and other casual attire are unacceptable attire for the Business Professional and Business Casual events. Skirt lengths should be no shorter than 3” above the knee. Body piercing, if any, should be conservative. Casual attire may only be worn in student rooms and on designated housing floors (3 rd floor and above at SLC).

9 Dress Code O Students and Advisors may choose to wear the official un-altered SLC T- shirt with their business casual pants and shoes on Monday only of the State Leadership Conference O Conference attendees (advisors and students) who are competing and/or fulfilling an assignment should follow our State Leadership Conference dress code policy O FAQ: Does this mean I can wear my conference t-shirt to: O Opens? No O to Competitions? No O to Success Sessions? No O to the Business Meeting? No O with leggings? No O to the mall on Monday? Yes O with flip/flops? No O with jeans? No O to Monday's general session? Yes O on Sunday? No O on Tuesday? No O to Social Media Blitz activities? Yes

10 Code of Conduct O The hotel has a closed-door policy for sleeping rooms At no time will hotel security allow the doors to be propped open Therefore, males and females are NOT ALLOWED to be in the same sleeping room without an advisor or chaperone present!

11 Code of Conduct O Smoking by BPA members is prohibited at all BPA functions. O Official name badges are to be worn at all times in the conference facilities on the delegate’s attire and placed directly below the shoulder area for uniformity and visibility. O BPA members shall abide by all conference rules. O Student BPA members will keep their adult advisors/chaperones informed of their activities and whereabouts at all times. O BPA members can stay only at Business Professionals of America, Indiana Association, approved hotels while attending the conferences. O BPA members shall not use their own cars to ride in or cars belonging to other delegates during the conference, unless accompanied by an authorized adult advisor.

12 Code of Conduct O Dating and/or associating is permitted at authorized activities only and between official delegates only. O No delegate shall be in possession of alcohol and/or illegal drugs at any time. O Student delegates are not permitted in public dance halls, bars or clubs. O Delegates shall respect and abide by the authority designated to the Business Professionals of America, Indiana Association Executive Board, presiding officers, committee chairpersons, and any adult advisor. O Delegates are to attend all sessions of the conference. O Male and female delegates are not to be in the same sleeping room at the same time unless accompanied by an advisor. Doors to sleeping rooms must not be propped open at any time.

13 Code of Conduct O Delegates shall not throw items off of balconies or out of windows. O Non-delegates (anyone not registered) are not permitted to attend any conference activity and are not permitted on hotel sleeping room floors. O Curfew will be strictly enforced each night. O All local advisors, Executive Board members, Demerit Board members, and the State Advisor have the right and authority to issue demerits at any Business Professionals of America function. The assessment of points must be reported immediately to the proper authority. The following personnel have the authority to hear appeals: the Association Executive Board of Directors and/or the appointed Demerit Board members.

14 Responsibility O BPA members will have a lot of freedom during the State Leadership Conference. They are expected to let their advisor know their whereabouts and should always be with a buddy. It is important you talk with your child about being responsible.
