3 EGSnrc The Center For High Energy Physics Kyungook National University Hye Yoon Chin3 1.What is the EGSnrc ㅡ History of the EGSnrc system The EGSnrc mean is Electron-Gamma-Shower National Research Council of Canada. The EGS system of computer codes is a general purpose package for the Monte Carlo simulation of the coupled transport of electrons and photons in an arbitrary geometry for particles with energies above a few keV up to several hundreds of GeV.

We will not repeat the preface here except to note that Walter “Ralph” Nelson has been the key player in the development of the system over the years and we all owe him a debt of gratitude. Original PEGS4 ① Introduction to PEGS4 The PEGS code (Preprocessor for EGS) is a stand alone utility program written in Mortran **. PEGS' purpose is to generate material data for the EGS code, and to provide other services for the user who is studying or simulating electro- magnetic interactions. -Fitting of functions by means of piecewise linear fits. -Production of print plots of selected functions. -Evaluation of functions at selected points. -Comparision of functions with sampled spectra.
