5 Slide 5 Background WebLab experiments available on-line since 1996 Experiments in Engineering Controls, Mechanical, Electrical & Chemical Engineering Real equipment operating @ UTC engineering labs, operated remotely via the web Some live video feeds; some live audio feeds Collaborations with universities in US, Canada, Australia, Germany, Scotland, Indonesia Method 1 -- Universal Web Browser Connections: ­100% browser compatible ­All experimental data saved in searchable database ­“Batch” experiments chosen from menu with adjustable parameters  1 user is an initiator; first come, first served  Many observers possible simultaneously Method 2 -- LabVIEW Remote Panel Connections: ­Requires LabVIEW Plug-in on remote computer (free) ­All experimental data saved in searchable database ­“Continuous” experiments  1 user is an initiator; first come, first served  Many observers possible simultaneously
