2 IACS EWS Review 2007 Tripartite – IACS reported: – What has triggered the review of Procedural Requirement 2 on EWS – Technical discussion on revision of PR2 (2007 status - 95% complete) – Challenges in implementing PR2 – confidentiality of ship specific information (2007 status – under revision)

3 IACS EWS Review New clause accepted by IACS Members: Notwithstanding the general duty of confidentiality owed by [society] to its client in accordance with the [society] Rules, [society] clients hereby accept that [society] will participate in IACS’ Early Warning System which requires each IACS Member and Associate to provide its fellow IACS Members and Associates with relevant technical information on serious hull structural and engineering systems failures, as defined in the IACS Early Warning System (but not including any drawings relating to the ship which may be the specific property of another party), to enable such useful information to be shared and utilized to facilitate the proper working of IACS’ Early Warning System. [society] will provide its client with written details of such information upon sending the same to IACS Members and Associates.

4 IACS EWS Review Action to address the change of the clause: Understanding the mechanism to identify sister and similar ships. Testing to know whether it would be possible to identify sisters and similar ships based on a limited set of information such as main dimensions.

7 What’s next? The PR 2 was approved by IACS and is currently with IACS Quality Committee for auditability review. Target entry into force date – 1 July 2009 Pilot the Scheme in IACS.
