Objectives:  The students will be able to cite strong and thorough textual evidence to support analysis of what the text says explicitly as well as inferences and conclusions based on and related to an author’s implicit and explicit assumptions and beliefs in order to be able to identify and explain the significance of metaphors.  The students will be able to create a double-entry journal in order to explain the author’s purpose.

Identify the metaphor and explain it in your journal.  Group #2: read the last paragraph on the left side of p. 194 (starting with “I took down...”) and do the same.
