12 Population of Focus: Children aged birth to 21 diagnosed with behavioral health challenges. System Strengths: Demonstrated history of strong inter/intra agency collaborations. Experience in implementing 8 SOC communities & 5 SOC Expansion Sites in Florida. Venues for joint planning. Resource alignment between state and local agencies. Areas for Improvement: Identification and utilization of effective state resources. Identification and implementation of evidenced based programs and promising practices. Improved access to and utilization of services and supports by populations experiencing behavioral health disparities. Increased CLC trained workforce. CONTEXT Where are we? MISSION The State Cultural & Linguistic Competency (CLC) Committee promotes the achievement of positive behavioral health outcomes for children, youth and families in Florida through holistic implementation and promotion of system of care values. We seek the elimination of behavioral health disparities among all children in Florida using the most effective and efficient continuum of services available. GOALS 1. A state cultural and linguistic competency Strategic Plan 2. A state cultural and linguistic competency Tool Kit(e.g. a listserv, glossary of terms, state promising approaches, multicultural learning tools and help- seeking strategies/approaches) 3. A framework for supportive state level cultural & linguistic Policy/Procedures 4. Provision of support to others to advance and sustain cultural & linguistic competency work in Florida (e.g. a statewide Cultural & Linguistic Competence Center of Excellence, training & technical assistance, assessment)
