Pre-revolutionary Iran By: Kevin Dao What are the pre-revolution beliefs of Islam? Why did certain religious groups feel that revolution against the Shah was necessary? How does this belief impact the citizens of Iran, the U.S., and/or the rest of the world?

Pre-revolutionary Islam Women were not allowed to wear veils Forced to wear western style clothing Women were given rights and education Government and rich people owned land Peasants were given nothing to live on

Revolution Against the Shah Some women wanted veils to be brought back Many Iranians could not stand the social inequality Wanted a government that helped the poor Wanted to bring back old ways of life/law
