A MERICAN F OOD T RENDS NHANES Data 2005-2006 Average Diet Composition Carbohydrate 47.8% Fat 33.4% Protein 15.7% Alcohol 3.2% NHANES III data still shows fiber below Dietary Guidelines (M 17.0 g/d, F 12.8 g/d) Fat intake had increased 13% between 1970-2000 Whole milk intake has declined and fat free milk has increased, with a total decline in overall milk consumption Fruit intake has increased 17% and Vegetable intake has increased 27% between 1970-2000, as it is more widely available year round
