1 FORMATTING GUIDELINES Language Arts 8

2 FORMATTING GUIDELINES Kelly Pavey Period 5This heading format is required November 10, 2011on all assignments in my classes, Assignment Titleboth typed and hand-written. When submitting an assignment, it is important to follow the teacher’s established formatting guidelines. All assignments in my class should include your name, class period, date, and assignment title in the upper left hand corner of the page. Please note that one typed assignments, the assignment title should be bold. Posters or art projects should include this information on the back or bottom of the project. The exception to this rule, however, is when an assignment such as a worksheet or test has a preprinted title.

3 FORMATTING GUIDELINES Other important formatting guidelines deal with line-spacing, text size, and font choices. When writing an assignment for my class, please single-space the heading. Everything following the assignment title should be double-spaced, as shown in this example. Double-spacing the text allows space for revisions and makes the assignment easier to read. Indent the beginning of each new paragraph, and do not insert extra lines between paragraphs. Text should be no smaller than a 10-point font and no larger than a 12-point font. A traditional, block-style font is required on all assignments. Arial, Calibri, and Times New Roman are acceptable fonts for this class.

4 FORMATTING GUIDELINES Please include page numbers on any assignments that are longer than one page. Page numbers should be inserted in the footer and should be in the following format: Page X of Y. For assistance in inserting page numbers, please see me. Page numbers should be the same size as or smaller than the font used in the body of the assignment. Please remember that formatting guidelines exist for the benefit of the students and the teacher. Your assignment should resemble this page, if you have formatted it correctly. Students who do not follow formatting guidelines, as outlined on this page, will not receive full-credit for the assignment. Page 1 of 1
