Good Samaritan Law Someone who renders aid in an emergency to a person Must be voluntary / genuine Must be “reasonable care” Good Samaritan Law active in all 50 states

Obtaining Permission Before giving first aid, you MUST get permission from the victim (conscious; 18 yrs. & older) With all unconscious victims, you have implied consent With all minors, you have implied consent

Basic Rules for First Aid 1.Make sure the scene is safe for you to enter If safe, assess the victim If not safe, do not enter; call 911 2.Keep victim lying down – head level; flat on back Reposition victim ONLY if: Vomiting (on side) Shortness of breath (semi-sitting) Shock (raise legs)
