3 Obtaining Permission Before giving first aid, you MUST get permission from the victim (conscious; 18 yrs. & older) With all unconscious victims, you have implied consent With all minors, you have implied consent

5 Basic Rules for First Aid 1.Make sure the scene is safe for you to enter  If safe, assess the victim  If not safe, do not enter; call 911 2.Keep victim lying down – head level; flat on back  Reposition victim ONLY if:  Vomiting (on side)  Shortness of breath (semi-sitting)  Shock (raise legs)
