6  The picture above Make-A-Wish Foundation turned San Francisco into Gotham City for a day in November to grant a 5-year-old patient’s wish to be Batkid. This happened in 2013.  A girl named Ayse who is 6 and lives in Turkey who has leukemia; her wish was to become a 2 nd princess Jasmine  A girl named Giuseppe who is 4 and lives in Italy who has leukemia; her wish was to go to Disneyland Paris  A boy named Michael who is 12 and lives in Austria who had a double kidney transplant; his wish was to go to the Lindner Innovation Center

7  Need for volunteers vary but as a volunteer opportunities may include being a wish granter, office worker, translator, fundraiser, speaker, or event staff member. Volunteers work in teams between 2-3 people and Make- A-Wish trains the volunteers to help the kids identify their wish and bring that experience to life.

8  West Mecklenburg should give to Make-A- Wish because as a person with sickle cell anemia they blessed me with the best week of my childhood. My wish was to meet Mickey Mouse and so of course they sent me to Disney World. I had the best time of my life with my family and they best part about it was that my mom didn’t have to give anything out of her pocket. Help Make-A- Wish continue to give kids hope and continue to give to the already 290,000 wishes already granted.
