2 Cascading Style Sheets OBJECTIVE: To learn how to invoke Cascading Style Sheets, and the benefit of using them

3 Cascading Style Sheets A style sheet is: Any rule or sequence of rules that affects the appearance of a document. Cascading Style Sheets: CSS is a simple mechanism for adding style (e.g. fonts, colors, and spacing) to Web documents

4 Cascading Style Sheets Cascading Style Sheets are used to separate presentation from content. CSS is a tool for controlling the design and layout of web contents.

5 Cascading Style Sheets The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) developed Cascading Style Sheets.

6 Cascading Style Sheets One advantage of Cascading Style Sheets is that if they are used properly you only have to change one source to impact all the pages of a web site. This makes for quicker and cleaner maintenance.

7 Cascading Style Sheets There are four style sheet types in CCS-1 specifications: inline style, embedded style sheet, linked style sheets and imported style sheets. Embedded and linked style sheets are most commonly used.
