2005/9/46 Samples of Opening It’s my honor to evaluate xxx’s speech. Ladies and Gentlemen, Honorable judges and Distinguished guests, Contest master……. It’s a pleasant experience to listen to xxx’s speech because it’s so humorous and meaningful. “To be or Not to be”. Yes, the speaker was hesitating in making a choice, but in the end he did make a decision and strided out of his comfort zone…. A speech starting with a joke is easy to win audience’s attention. But sometimes, it’s easy to lose the focus too. However, the speaker managed to keep the audience in concentration, and also keep the speech in focus.
