How far would you run for a doughnut By Myre Adnan
2
How to work out the number of calories you burn ? 1. First you times your weight in kilograms by the length you ran in kilometers 2. Then times that by 1.036 Example: 39kg ×1.5 km = 59×1.036 = 59.0034 You do not need to add the decimals as weight is very commonly rounded, so the number of calories burned in this example is 59

How much do you need to run to burn the calories in a doughnut ? You need to find out how much you burn in 1 km and then you can times it to make it the number of calories in a doughnut. Example: The doughnut has 500 calories and you find out using the method in the last page that you lose 100 calories per km so you now times that by 5 which makes 500 and then you times the 1km by 5 so that shows that in this example you have to run 5km

How knowing arithmetic with decimals help you make good health decisions? It helps you because now you know how to work out the number of calories you burn per a certain amount of km. When you buy something with many calories you would first think whether you would be able to lose those calories or not and depending on that you would buy the right stuff.
5
A special tip If you now how to work this out you can tell your parents about it so they let you eat junk food as you know how much you will need to run to burn that much calories.
