Can you guys think of any other disruptive technologies? How about something that could have been disruptive, but wasn’t?
10
Have you ever called for or hailed a taxi? Have you ever used the Uber app? What does it take to disrupt a market?
11
Even if you don’t look for transportation often it’s hard to deny the value of Uber. Modern people want more convenient ways to get from point A to point B.
12
Smartphones have already displaced an existing market. Uber appeals to those that use them. A few taps and you can set up a ride for when you need it.
13

14
You can save a few bucks and you can save a few minutes. What does that mean for the cab industry?
15
The cab industry has been operating for decades. It provided a more personal and specific alternative to public transportation.
16
In the United States alone, there are numerous examples of cab companies taking legal action against Uber. Uber in Massachusetts: GPS invalid method of fare calculation Uber in California: Cab service without a license
17
Uber has won a great number of its legal battles. It has successfully managed to cause permanent damage to the cab industry around the world. Innovation often fights the law.
18
It’s difficult to predict future disruptive trends. People wanted faster horses. It’s clear that disruptive innovations will continue to occur. Competition has to take action to survive.
