ABOUT  Formed in Hawthorne California in 1961, the groups original line up consisted of brothers Brian, Dennis, and Carl Wilson, their cousin Mike Love, and friend Al Jardine.  After Carl’s death, there were many live configurations of members fronted by Mike and Bruce Johnston continued to tour into the 2000’s until the 50 th anniversary where the surviving co- founders reunited for a new studio album and world tour

3. IMPACT  Some genres that their style can emulate could fall under rock, pop, even psychedelic rock. But most can agree their songs fall under Surf music.

4. MUSIC STYLE  The Beach Boys brought forth what is now called the ‘Beach- themed Period’. Their ‘soft rock’ attracted teens from all over and sold over 40,000 copies of their first album, being perfect to take out for their beach parties (therefore the name… BEACH Boys).

FUN FACTS  Drummer Dennis Wilson’s SIXTH wife was the illegitimate daughter of Mike Love  Being deaf in one ear, Brian cannot hear in stereo  Mike and Dennis hated each other so much that a mutual restraining order was obtained to keep them apart  Brian’s girlfriend claimed, after pleading a no contest to a cocaine possession charge, that the unaccepting band members had planted the drugs in her bag  They hold 2 nd place in being in the top chart the longest at 24 years with their “I get Around” hit. First place was awarded to Cher at 33 years  Only Dennis knew how to surf
