2 Slide 2 TFTN - Background 2  NSGIC Advocacy Agenda Initiative  Goal to build national transportation base layers for use by all levels of government  Complements & reinforces other current efforts to develop national framework data layers (e.g. IFTN)

3 Slide 3 TFTN and USDOT USDOT is a full partner in TFTN  Transportation Theme Lead for the NSDI  Produce and Maintain the National Transportation Atlas Databases (NTAD)  FHWA HPMS Program collecting data from State DOTs  Funding the Strategic Planning Effort

6 Slide 6 The Road Ahead 6  Creation of a Steering Committee  Conduction of interviews, workshops, meetings, surveys, case studies, etc.  Identification of what’s working, what’s needed – current practices, requirements, strategies, standards, documentation  Identification of institutional constraints, capacity, operational authority, motivation, benefits, etc.
