In this course, students learn the important elements of organizing and managing group travel and events. The course is designed to educate students on the planning, execution and management of a group trip or tour and various events, including marketing, budget and operational aspects.

Assignment Submissions: Be careful of assignment submission dates. Homework is expected to be submitted on or before the due date. Late submission results in loss of points.

Seminars are fun and helpful- In Units 1-9. Seminars are graded. If unable to attend you must submit a 2-3 page essay on the topic stated in the Seminar section of the unit. We will be looking at the way meeting and events come together. We’ll discuss the relationships with hotels, airlines and other suppliers, analyze financial inputs and evaluate operational logistics. Finally, you’ll produce a special event - Keep your final project in mind as we work our way through the units and assignments.

Our class will look at dynamic events but I would like to involve your comments and thoughts on all areas of the industry too. In the hospitality industry this includes, travel, tourism and destinations, hotel accommodations, food and restaurants, special events and leisure and recreation.
