Skills or Abilities These are things we can already do or things that we can learn to do. All of us have abilities – each of us are strong in some areas and not so strong in others

Abilities can be things like being good at: Housework Gardening Listening to people Art or drawing Cooking Expressing myself in words Having new ideas Maths

Interests Work interests can be grouped into the following areas: Working Outdoors (gardener, driver) Helping People (welfare worker, nurse) Working with Maths (accounts, computers) Creative/Artistic (artist, design) Scientific (working in a lab) People Orientated (sales, real estate) Technical (trades, engineering) Clerical (receptionist, assistant)

Values What do we value in life – what’s important. Examples of values can be things like… Having time to spend with my family Learning new things and developing as a person Making a good income Fighting for social justice Making the world a better place Being happy Being rich Not being stressed out

Values Values are a very, very important thing to consider in what we do with our lives. If we know what matters to us in life and pursue that we have a greater chance of being fulfilled. Values are what give our life meaning.

Worksheet Now complete the Skills-Interests-Values Worksheet about your current skills, interests and values, as well as what you would like these to be. Keep this somewhere for reference – it may help you with making choices for your future.
