Cincinnatus!
2
Cincinnatus was a military general who became a farmer when he retired from the army.
3
One day, a foreign army surrounded Rome.
4
The Romans searched for Cincinnatus in order to request his leadership and found him at his plow.
5
Cincinnatus agreed and became temporary dictator of Rome.
6
Roman definition of dictator: During times of emergencies, all power was given to one man instead of the two consuls. Term of office: 6 months
7
Cincinnatus took power and defeated the army in 16 days.
8
Rather than continue leading Rome as a military dictator, Cincinnatus returned back to his plow and lived a quiet life.
9
Cincinnatus became an example of moral virtue, for he did not desire ultimate power, even though he could have used the army to take over Rome.
