1 Setting up your own Business Careers, Finance and Welfare Team

2 Who are the Princes Trust? It all began in 1976, when HRH The Prince of Wales had a bold idea. Having completed his duty in the Royal Navy, His Royal Highness became dedicated to improving the lives of disadvantaged young people in the UK. He founded His Trust to deliver on that commitment. They support 13-30 year olds in a variety of programmes The Enterprise programme was launched in 1983 and within three years 1,000 young people were supported to start a business. Since then, they’ve helped over 80,000 young people to start their own business.Enterprise programme

3 Who can they help? Princes Trust enterprise can help 18-30 year olds to set up their own business To be eligible you need to: Be interested in setting up your own business or have a great business idea! Be unemployed or working less than 16 hours Either not in education or coming to the end of your course Not eligible? Check out Blue Orchid, Womens Organisation or gov.uk for support or book an appointment with the Careers Team. Check out our VLE pages for employability and look for the enterprise section for more details.

4 How do they help? Stage 1 – You will be invited to a inspire information session where you can find out more about the programme and what you need to do next. You will fill in an application form at this point. Stage 2 – Attend a 4 day Explore Enterprise course. You will learn all about planning a business, what it’s like to be your own boss and whether self employment is right for you. You will get to meet inspirational speakers who have been through the process and successfully set up their own business! Day 1 – Personal goals and skills, personal money and legal structures Day 2 – Marketing and selling Day 3 – HMRC, pricing, managing your money Day 4 – Business plans, mentoring and next steps Tuesday 16 th – Friday 19 th February 2016 course at West Cheshire College!

5 How do they help? Stage 3 – One to one support to launch your business. You will have a business mentor to support you to choose and plan your next steps. If you need financial support to test your ideas, they can support you to apply for this. This can take as long as you need it Step 4 – You can access support for 2 years including mentoring, taking the next steps and financial support. If you chose not to go in to business, you can access mentor training to help you progress with your goals.
