Due to the rapid spread of technology in the educational field, the world witnessed the advent of a new equipment that replaces the traditional whiteboards or flipcharts. It is the “Interactive Whiteboard” which we will focus on its benefits and limitations in the teaching-learning process.

Merits of IWB: For Learners Provides high visual impact. Is highly motivating. Helps absorb information easily. Enables the annotation of texts. Allows the evaluation of peer’s work ( feedback). For Teachers Provides opportunities for creativity. Gives access to a broad range of multi-media resources. Saves information for later uses. Enables the annotation of texts. Increases the pace of a lesson. Enables them to have split screens for comparison.

Limitations of IWB: For Learners Front projection board can be obscured by users. Fixed-height boards can be placed too high or too low. The sunshine can reduce the visibility. For Educators Technical faults Lack of confidence Expensive and any fault will cost. Free-standing boards are more difficult to secure and need to be realigned every time they are moved.
