When to use the Feature Current implementationsRapidStart Services Benefit/Savings Configuration of primary processes is time consuming (i.e may take a customer approx. 25 days for financial modules.) Default configuration provided allowing for configuration of financial modules is under 10 minutes With modification of configurations deployment times reduced by 50% Requires a solution designer or consultant to be very experienced with the Dynamics AX technical & functional design of each process your are looking to deploy Users familiar with customer’s business processes can use questionnaire to configure the application; the questionnaire would be relevant & focused on the business process you are trying to roll out Difficulty understanding sequence of configuration steps, dependencies and when a configuration is complete Guided sequence of steps to configure the desired business process and provide progress indications through out the experience. Spend time and effort deploying existing business processes to different sites or business lines, also time and effort will be consumed to drive consistency and efficiency Full support for saving and applying previously created configurations in RapidStart Services When Extending capabilities (using add-ons or vertical processes) users run through a multiple challenges both on the technology side and functional side. RapidStart Services supports configuration of partner-developed solutions (& other extension) through its Extensibility Framework. The benefit is reflected in the solution design and understanding of what those extensions bring to the processes

Concepts & Definitions Configuration data means data that must be configured in order for Dynamics AX to be functional and is generally modified to meet specific business needs. Master data is data that is core to the operations of an organization which may include data about the organization’s customers, vendors, services and products. Master data is non-transactional but is required for the majority of business transactions Reference data is data that is global or regional in nature and is not specific to a particular implementation. Examples of Reference Data include currency, language, units, unit conversions, time zone, country/region, and exchange rates. Configuration project – a project created in RapidStart Services for the purposes for configuring Dynamics AX that may include configuration, master, and reference data Service instance – an instance of RapidStart Services that is for a specific organization

Top 10 Tips from the Session 1)Install the connector in the same server as you have installed the AOS 2)You have to install one connector per AOS instance and it is not one connector instance per server 3)The user account that you specify for the connector should also be an admin in the AX 4)Use the Dynamics Online Partner Portal/Customer Portals to provision the users and add new service instance, once your account is provisioned, you can directly navigate to RapidStart Services from https://www.rapidstart.dynamics.comhttps://www.rapidstart.dynamics.com 5)Only completed configuration projects can be loaded into Dynamics AX 2012 6)Microsoft shipped content cannot be modified, if you would require to modify or extend the content, you can do so by copying the templates, functional areas as appropriate.
