Formed in 1922 at a Bush Conference held during the Royal Agricultural Show Original intention behind formation was for women to “band together for their own support” Stated aim was improving the living conditions of women on the land History

Current membership of over 9,000 Approximately 400 Branches (including metropolitan, regional, rural and remote NSW) Branches divided into 30 geographical groups CWA of NSW today

CWA of NSW members have contributed to a range of outcomes including: Compulsory seat belts in cars Breast prosthesis inclusion in the Medicare Rebate Scheme The use of school zone flashing lights Compulsory reflective triangle signs for trucks Introduction of scholarship scheme to train dentists for country areas Mimosa Bush (Yellow Mimosa) listed as feral native species Lobbying for change
