Back in ancient Greece, engaging in sports was described as the occupation of the noble and wealthy. 3 Football Football is a very violent sport and one of the most violent. In football every game there’s always professional referees controlling the games. On the field there are hash marks for every yard, yard lines every 5 yards, numbers every 10 yards with arrows pointing to the nearest goal line, a goal line for the touchdown, and a goal post for the kickers to kick field goals in. For every football team there’s always a head coach, offensive coordinator who runs the offense and calls plays during a game, a trainer to get the players in shape, defensive coordinator to run the defense and call plays, and a president of a team to build finances and trading or receiving players. In practice players use tackling dummies for tackling practice and blocking.

4 Major League Baseball The major leaguers use wooden bats because if they would use aluminum bats they could seriously hurt the other players and fans because of how powerful the players would be. The baseball the MLB players use weighs between 5 and 5.5 oz. Most batters wear batting gloves too protect their hands from blisters and for better gripping so they don’t let of the bat. The bases on the field are 90 feet spread apart making a diamond shape in the field.

5  Freestyle wrestling is a style of amateur wrestling that is practiced throughout the world.  Along with the Greco- Roman, it is a style of wrestling that is played in the Olympic games.  It is one of the oldest sports in history.  The ultimate goal in wrestling is to pin your opponent to the mat.  A pin is when both shoulders are touching the mat at the same time.  This results in an automatic win. 6 Sports All around In sports although you don’t always succeed (win), you are to show good sportsmanship to other players, coaches or fans. Sports are organized athletic activities played individually or in teams.

9 Fun Facts In the MLB it takes about 13.3 seconds to run 360 feet around the bases! The longest homerun ever recorded was 618 feet!
