Proofreader’s Marks What are “Proofreader’s Marks”? Proofreader’s Marks are used by writers to indicate changes they think should be made in their first writing attempt. When changes are indicated on a document, it is then called a “rough draft”.

Proofreader’s Marks What are “Proofreader’s Marks”? The marks used to indicate changes are symbols, or shortcuts, that represent corrections to errors and changes you want to make before you recopy your work. This can help you by saving you a lot of time when retyping a rough draft. The following slides show some of the most common proofreader’s marks used.
