3. We have now completed several activities using CCGI and it’s career planning tab. Hopefully you have gotten to know yourself a little better and realized you have unique interests, values, and abilities, which can be used to match up with possible career pathways. This is important because research indicates that people who careers match their interest, values and abilities are happier, healthier and more successful. Let’s take a little time to reflect on the career planning activities you have completed thus far.  What have you learned about yourself by doing these activities?  Take a few minutes to share with a partner what you have learned about yourself. You may be asking yourself, why are we doing this? What use was this? Why did you waste my time? So, I’ve identified some of my interests, values and abilities, now what? So I’ve got a list of matching careers, how does this help me in my “real” life?

4. I’m glad you asked! Today we going to see how your matching careers relate to “real” life situations. We will first do a real life example as a class, then you’ll have an opportunity to explore some real life examples with the matching careers you’ve saved to your portfolio. The class matching career will be an Anesthesiologist. Anesthesiologists are Doctors who focus on surgical patients and pain relief. They administer anesthetics, which are medicines to prevent patients from feeling pain and sensations; closely monitor patients' vital signs during surgery and adjust anesthetics accordingly; monitor patients through the first recovery stages after an operation; and administer appropriate medications during recovery.
