-South East Alaska is also know as the “Alaska Panhandle”. -Southeast Alaska has over a 1,000 islands -It’s part of the Alexander Archipelago -3 of the 5 cities in Alaska are located in the panhandle -There are hardly any roads in the Pan Handle, only two cities can be reached by car SOUTH EAST ALASKA

Climate- warm and rainy Geography- Major Cities- Juneau, Haines, Sitka, Skagway, Wrangell, Ketchikan, Petersburg, & Yakutat. Population- 74,423 people Demographics- 74.8% White, 0.8% African American, 11.4% Native American, 4.7% Asian, 0.4% Pacific Islander, 1.1% other races Economy & Industry- Commercial fishing and Tourism. Geography- The major city is Anchorage. Other towns are Palmer, Kenai, Wasilla, Soldotna, Homer, Seward, Valdez, and Cordova. Climate- the climate in South Central Alaska is subarctic. Population- over half of Alaska’s population lives in South Central Alaska- 298,842 people. Economy and Industry- Sport fishing, tourism, oil and gas industries. Geography- Interior Alaska is home to Fairbanks Alaska ( home of one of the most popular colleges in Alaska). Interior Alaska has lots of braided rivers such as the Yukon River. Climate- The temperature in Interior Alaska’s average ranges from -12 in the winter to 65 in the summer. The weather there is so extreme do to the Chinook Wind effects. Population- 93,779 people Demographics- About 36.2% of the people in Interior Alaska are Alaska Native. Economy and Industry- Military, North Slope oil fields, tourism, and mining. INTERIOR ALASKA

Geography- Arctic Alaska is home of the popular village, Barrow. Arctic Alaska consists of lots of villages. Population- 10,500 people Demographics- Arctic Alaska consists mostly of native Alaskan because its where a lot of the native villages are. Climate-the climate of Arctic Alaska is probably the coldest out of all the regions. Its almost always cold and dark. Economy and Industry- mining, oil and gas.
