What’s in Nouns and Adjectives? A note about gender in Latin: A Latin noun’s gender often depends on how the noun is spelled. For example… ‘woman’ (femina) is feminine in Latin, but so is ‘spear’ (hasta). Both femina and hasta are 1 st declension nouns, and almost all 1 st declension nouns are feminine.
