1 hcal installation and commissioning status pawel de barbaro, vitali smirnov, june 11, 2007
2
2 Positive news HF+ was the first subsystem fully commissioned (end-to-end chain, from photo-multipliers, QIE cards, Optical Fibers between ux5 and usc55, Front- ends, DAQ. LED pulses timed in, both for local and global runs Latency loss problem under investigation
3
3 hcal commissioning: schedule HF Apr/May: completed work on HF+, HF- will be commissioned as soon as we get LV power! HO June: YB-1, YB-2 in sx5 hall July: HO on yb0 wheel August: YB+2, YB+1 (waiting for water cooling) HE June/July: start-up of YE+1 was delayed by lack of water cooling Nov/Dec: YE-1 (when it gets lowered)
4
4 Low Voltage issue we do not have power distribution of 220V, 3phase to AC/DC converters, we have to use temporary solutions (HF, HE, HB) 1. HF+, HF-; racks on HF detector 2.HE+/- racks in towers of YE+/-1 disks), 3.HB+/-, HO/yb0 balcony racks (x3n33, x2f31) 4.HO+/-2, HO+/-1: racks on towers on wheels Control of LV (25-pair cable) to same destinations 48V service to AC/DC converters Rack S4A2 for Mainframe to control LV not ready for installation
5
5 Water cooling Water cooling system for HE+ undergoing pressure tests, hopefully to be turned on soon (week of June 11-15) However, for HO +2, HO+1 water will not available until plus side disks and wheels can be opened (expect in late july or august ?) Note, without water, we can only power up readout boxes for less than one hour at a time
6
6 EBHB services installation and commissioning of HB wedges HB commissioning will be on the critical path Present schedule calls for installation of all services and full commissioning of HB wedges at the rate of 4 wedges per 4 days, (two wedges per plus and minus half-barrels to be done in parallel) LV and DCS cables, as well as N2 inertion flexible tubes need to be installed to Readout Boxes from balcony racks HV cables and Optical Fibers have to be installed beteen ux5 and usc55, approx. length ~100m
7
7 Draft schedule for +z end, m. gastal
8
8 critical issue for HB commissioning ECAL cable trays in 53deg crack will fully block access to HV unit and water connections of HCAL Readout modules
9
9 PP1 reduces access to HB RBX
10
10 implications We need to be able to guarantee full functionality of each individual HB wedge before EB cable tray can be placed over it and EB services installation can start We are considering a scenario in which HV and Optical Fibers would be installed between usc55 and balcony on near side prior to the start of EBHB commissioning campaign in order to reduce time on critical path
11
11 other hcal issues Location of N2 gas inertion (to protect HPDs against Helium damage) manifolds still not defined Location of splice box for HV cables in x0 area still to be confirmed We are in process of testing/repairing CCMs (Clock and Control Modules). Repairs expected to be finished by mid-july. Pemanent (driven by pressurized air) Source Drivers not yet delivered to CERN
