A Partnership for Defining the Biotechnology Workforce GRANT OVERVIEW Partners: San Diego Workforce Partnership BIOCOM Project Goals: Create a multi-use training center to enhance the programs and curricula offered at education/training institutions Develop industry exposure opportunities for students (high school – post doctoral) and high school teachers Serve as a clearinghouse for local and national labor market research related to the biotechnology industry

A Partnership for Defining the Biotechnology Workforce LSSI STUDENT INTERNSHIP PROGRAM 1-Week Intro. to the biotechnology Lab “ Boot Camp ” –Industry introduction, drug & device development process –Review of metrics, significant figures, proper documentation and data analysis –Introduction to regulatory issues (SOP, GLP, GMP, FDA) –Basic hands-on laboratory skills & knowledge –LSSI industry soft skills certification - effective communication, organization, teamwork, presentations & industry expectations 8-Week Industry Internship Poster Development & Display
