Crime- An act that violates a law and has a set penalty.

Urban- Living in a city.

Incarceration- Imprisonment by the state.

Victim- A person who suffers from a destructive or damaging action.

Trauma- An experience that causes psychological (mental) injury or pain.

Advocacy- Active support or argument for a cause (or person).

Restitution- An order for a criminal to pay back or compensate the victims of their crimes.

Crisis intervention- Help for survivors to regain control over their lives.
