Verbs and Adjectives can be converted to verbs by using suffixes or by using the infinitive form of the verb These can be used as subjects, direct objects, or object of a preposition ◦ Personify = Personification ◦ Translate = Translation ◦ Careless = Carelessness ◦ Eat = To eat ◦ Exercise = To exercise

They add unnecessary words to sentences, creating wordiness and clumsy writing: ◦ The creation of the model involved a great amount of dedication from the workers involved. Improved: ◦ Through hard work, the workers created the model. Nominalizations create passive rather than active voice: ◦ There was agreement among the union members. Active: ◦ The union members agreed.
