This course is designed as an introduction to the origins of Psychology rather than as an in-depth look at any particular area. Students will cover the major psychological theorists, human development, memory, thought, motivation, and the biological basis for behavior. Later in the semester, students will also discover personality theories, psychological disorders, and treatment options. While students may take the AP exam at the end of the year if they and you decide to, this class is not run at the AP level and is not designed to prepare students for that exam. Students will occasionally have homework, but most work and learning will be completed in the classroom. Class time will be split between lecturing and participating in activities to demonstrate various aspects of Psychology. Students will also be asked a great deal of hypothetical and abstract questions in order to aid them in exploring the world of Psychology This year….
