Lesson 15 – Self-Awareness pg. 36 Objectives: Comprehend the concept of “Self- Awareness” as one of the E.I. scales Learn what is means to become self-aware
4
Self-Awareness What do you think it is? We have to know ourselves and be aware of what is going on with us. We need to know what is causing what is going on and also be aware of what we can do about what is going on. For example: Has this ever happened to you? http://video.google.com/videosearch?q=toi let+paper+stuck+to+shoe&www_google_ domain=www.google.com&hl=en&emb=0 &aq=1&oq=toilet+paper+stu# http://video.google.com/videosearch?q=toi let+paper+stuck+to+shoe&www_google_ domain=www.google.com&hl=en&emb=0 &aq=1&oq=toilet+paper+stu#
5
Self-Awareness Just think about it for a moment. We all have things about ourselves that we need to be aware of. Example: some people talk too much, too loudly, interrupt, shy, dominate. How do we become more self-aware?
6
Activity: Looking at ourselves Look at page 36 and write down something you do well. Now pair up with your neighbor and share what you wrote. Tell your partner something about when, where and how you do the thing you wrote about.
7
Activity: Looking at Ourselves Now let’s do the same thing with something negative—something that you feel you need to change or do differently or maybe not do at all. Write it on page 37 and this time, you do not have to share it if you do not want to.
8
Activity: Looking at ourselves Now, think about yourself physically and write down something that you like about yourself, again you do not need to share this.
9
Launch If you keep doing what you’ve always done, you’ll keep getting what you’ve always got! Turn to your neighbor and discuss what this means.
