2 About These Programs Exercise and Sports Science: -According to University of Georgia Career Center, “This program focuses on the basis of physical activity, exercise and sport through the study of exercise and sports biomechanics, physiology, athletic training, and other areas throughout the program.” - According to Georgia State University, “The B.S. major in Exercise Science prepares students for careers in adult fitness, worksite health promotion/corporate fitness, personal training, clinical exercise physiology, cardiac rehabilitation, and other related fields.”

3 Program Requirements This program’s requirements changes variously depending upon which University you attend. Our focus will be the requirements at GSU which calls the program Exercise Science: - Completion of Anatomy and Physiology of Kinesiology and Health with grade of “C” or better - Completion of all university core curriculum - Once these are completed, then student is eligible to register for major courses where 54 credit hours must be completed - 6 elective credit hours - 6 credit hours in a practicum and internship. - Once all areas are completed the student has received their Bachelors of Science in Exercise Science!!

4 Career Field Choices Exercise Physiologist - Explorehealthcareers.org states, “Exercise physiologists oversee the analysis, improvement, and maintenance of health and fitness,… as well as, the professional guidance and counsel of athletes and others interested in sports training.” Employment options: - Clinician, Sports Physicians, Coaches/trainers, Wellness directors, Rehab Specialists, Exercise Managers, Sports & Athletic Performance Specialists Salary Range: - around 37,500-48,500 *4-6 years of college

5 Continued… Kinesiotherapists - According to explore Explorehealthcareers.org, “Kinesiotherapists develop and monitor exercise programs to help people regain muscle strength and function lost due to injury or disease.” Employment Options: - Hospitals/Rehabilitation Centers, Sports Medicine Facilities, Fitness Centers, Private Practices; Salary Range: - around 40,000-75,000 *4 years of college

6 Continued… Strength and Conditioning Coach - According to Humankinetics.com, Strength and conditioning coaches help to improve the performance of athletes and to reduce athletic injury. Employment Options: - Athletic Departments at High Schools/Universities, Professional Organizations, Fitness Centers, Rehabilitation Centers, Wellness Facilities Salary Range: - High School, Wellness Centers around 40,000-60,000 - Universities around 45,000-75,000 - Professional Organizations around 100,000 *Depends on qualifications and experience

7 Wrapping Things Up In conclusion: - I focused this presentation on 3 careers I would want to pursue - There are plenty of other career fields that this program opens the door to though, THE CHOICE IS YOURS! - This program and careers are geared towards kinesthetic, hands-on individuals that are willing to engage people and life with a drive to impact! - These careers in my choice are all very rewarding in regards to seeing people’s lives, self- worth and confidence boost as well as being able to support a family with the solid salaries they offer.
