Vocabulary Standards O 8.L.6 Acquire and use accurately grade-appropriate general academic and domain-specific words and phrases; gather vocabulary knowledge when considering a word or phrase important to comprehension or expression. 3. O Throughout the year you will complete FOUR dictionaries. O The due dates are as follows: O Personality – October 1 st O Emoji – December 11 th O Sport/Team – March 4 th O Favorites – May 6 th

4. Personality O Create a dictionary with words that describe your personality. You must use a different word for each letter of your first and last name. Your dictionary should include: 1. The definition of the word. 2. The connection to your personality. 3. A picture that represents that word.

5. Emoji O For each letter of the alphabet: 1. Draw an emoji that starts with that letter. 2. Explain the meaning of the emoji. 3. Write a text message – in a complete sentence – using the emoji.

6. Sports/Sports Team O Create a dictionary using the name of your favorite sport or sports team. For each letter, come up with one word that describes your favorite or is a term from that sport Include: 1. The definition of the word. 2. A sentence using the word. 3. A picture or image that represents that word.

7. Favorite Song/Book/TV Program/Movie O Create a dictionary using the name of your favorite song/book/TV program/movie. For each letter, come up with one word that describes your favorite song/book/TV program/movie. Include: 1. The definition of the word. 2. The connection to your favorite song/book/TV program/movie. 3. A picture that represents that word.
