TKaM PARTNER ESSAY (optional)
2
With a partner, write a 4-paragraph essay on the following topic: What literary device does Harper Lee use most effectively in To Kill a Mockingbird?
3
Write a 4 paragraph essay (intro, 2 body paragraphs, and conclusion) in groups of two. Work together to analyze your analytical paragraphs in order to create a thesis statement. The analytical paragraphs you have already written will become your body paragraphs. Work together to create (mix and match) your paragraphs, add transitions, and improve your commentary. Work together to create an introduction and conclusion paragraph. FOLLOW THE RUBRIC, which gives specific directions about each component.
4
1. First Draft The first draft will be written in a special way. Regardless of who actually types the draft, the writing of each student will be presented in different fonts, bolded or italicized to graphically show who wrote* what. The first draft should be double spaced. *this refers to the original sentence as first written; it is understood that both partners will be revising (often as the writing is being done) and the original sentences may be altered.
5
2. Revision Process: Your first draft will be read and peer edited by at least one different group/person. There needs to be handwritten comments/suggestions and a completed SCORING RUBRIC stapled to your rough draft by each group/person editing your draft (more than one peer edit is recommended).
6
3. Final Draft Your final draft will be typed and will follow standard MLA conventions*. You and your partner will self-grade your essay using the essay rubric, which will then be turned in with your final essay. *12 pt. Times New Roman or Arial font (the entire essay), paragraphs are double spaced, heading (both names) in upper right corner of title page (no spaces), title is centered directly above introduction paragraph, paragraphs indented, no extra spaces between paragraphs.
