2. Purpose of the Assessments  They replace locally developed assessments.  Common Exam scores will count as final exam grades, 25% of final grade.

3. Types of questions   The total test: Thirty-three to thirty-seven multiple-choice items Three to four constructed response items   Four reading passages: Two literature Two informational texts (History/Social Studies or Science). Up to ten multiple-choice items and up to two constructed response items per passage   Constructed response items: Short answer CR questions Standard 9 (draw evidence from sources) Answered in a paragraph or less Worth 2 points each Single extended response question Standards 1(write arguments), 4 (clear, coherent writing), and 9 (draw evidence from sources) Answered in three paragraphs Worth up to 4 points
