3 3 HUIT Mission and Structure Mission: We strive to make it easier for faculty, students, and staff to teach, research, learn, and work through the effective use of information technology. Led by University CIO Anne Margulies, HUIT comprises seven service delivery groups plus administrative, planning, and strategy teams. Currently HUIT is working on three strategic university-wide initiatives: IAM, SIS and TLT. 5 5 Library Technology Services – how we spend our time…. 50-55% of LTS resources are dedicated to operations and maintenance of existing applications – mostly on Aleph and DRS -- as well as infrastructure that underpins all library technology In FY15 we spent about 49% of LTS time on 10 strategic enhancement projects and a variety of technology planning projects: –DRS2 metadata migration –PRIMO implementation –Mirador/Shared Canvas project –Video support for DRS –Electronic Archiving System –Shared Shelf –Contributions to Hathi and DPLA –Library Cloud

6 Library Technology Services – priorities for FY16 6 Major investments in Digital Repository Infrastructure –DRS2: SW “modernization” project: metadata, preservation standards, expand supported formats –Next generation storage (Gen3) – keeping up with growing demand for digital storage –Planning improvements for “digital deposits” Building more born digital collections – planning for future growth –Web archiving –Email and E-record archiving –Research data preservation and access

7 Library Technology Services – priorities for FY16 7 Supporting Research, Teaching and Learning in new ways –Interoperability/APIs –Embedding library services into Canvas – new reserves module –Investments in Harvard Geospatial Library Continuous improvements to Discovery and Access –E-resource access for alumni –planning better search for archives and visual collections –unique digital collections – making them easier to find –Mirador as new page delivery service Next generation tools for managing metadata and processing: Library Services Platform and ArchiveSpace
