Check In Please draw a rough sketch of a human heart and label the four chambers. [4] Homework Study Biology for 20 minutes.

Check In Put these in order as blood travels through the body:  Aorta  Left atrium  Pulmonary vein  Lung capillaries  Left ventricle  Pulmonary artery Homework Study Biology for 20 minutes.

Check In Outline the path of a blood cell from the lungs to a cell in the finger using sequencing language. [6] Homework Study Biology for 20 minutes.

Circulatory System: Practice 1.A blood cell that starts in the small intestine moves nutrients to the heart via the __. 2.It enters the heart in the __. 3.Next, it is pumped to the __ and then into the __. 4.It passes through the __ before moving to the __. 5.The blood cell then returns to the heart in the __. 6.It is pumped to the __ and leaves the heart via the __, where it can be sent anywhere in the body.

Notes – Human Heart “Each day your heart beats about 100,000 times, circulating blood through nearly 96,000 kilometers of blood vessels-- roughly one- quarter of the distance to the moon. Over 70 years, your heart will beat about 2.5 billion times.”

The Human Heart: Oral Practice 1.A blood cell that starts in the small intestine moves nutrients to the heart via the __. 2.It enters the heart in the __. 3.Next, it is pumped through a __ to the __. 4.From there it travels through a __ and into the __. 5.It passes through the __ before moving to the __. 6.The blood cell then returns to the heart in the __. 7.It is pumped through a second __ into the __. 8.The blood cell finally leaves the heart through a second __ into the __ where it can be sent anywhere in the body.

The heartbeat cycle Each cycle equals one heartbeat. The cycle repeats: 1.Atria and ventricles relax and fill with blood 2.Both atria contract to force blood into ventricles. 3.Both ventricles contract to force blood into aorta and pulmonary arteries.

Heart Rate Heart rate or Pulse the number of heart beats in one minute. – Arteries stretch each time ventricles contract. Heart Beat: caused by closing of valves. Typically “ lub-dup, lub-dup. ” – Lub = closing of A.V. valves. – Dup = closing of Semilunar valves. Heart murmurs: hissing caused by valve defects.

The Human Heart: Written Practice 1.A blood cell that starts in the small intestine moves nutrients to the heart via the __.

Check Out Please draw a rough sketch of a human heart and label the 4 chambers and the 4 tubes that enter and leave the heart. [8] Homework Study Biology for 20 minutes.

Check Out Outline how the heart beats. [3] Homework Study Biology for 20 minutes.
