A simile is the using and comparing of two words ‘’like’’ or ‘’as’’. EX. My puppy is as fat as a hippo.

A metaphor is for comparing two things without using like or as. EX. My puppies are smaller than a bowling ball.

A hyperbole is an exaggeration in a sentence. EX.She was so happy her smile was a mile wide (Mile)

A onomatopoeia is a sound word. EX.The train made a choo-choo sound as it went by.

A personification is to describe a non-living object with human abilities. EX. The snow wrapped around the city like a blanket because of the snow.

Practice Problems Colorful cats can’t curl curly hair. The trees are dancing with the wind. Her head was so big it is the size of a watermelon. Her hair was so dirty it looked like she haven’t washed it in years. As clear as a crystal. The pen made a clicking noise.
