Academic writing Is highly structured and logically developed Requires evaluation of arguments, models or theories Examines both arguments and counterarguments Claims are based on evidence Source materials are always acknowledged (failure to do this results in PLAGIARISM) Conclusions are important (though they may not be clear-cut) Uses formal language
