2 INTRODUTION Of Sandra Day O’Conner Sandra Day O’Conner was born in El Paso, Texas on MARCH 26, 1930. As child, she lived the Lazy B Ranch with her grandparents. Her favorite main activity was reading. She was a bright child. She also, did chores in the ranch. She like d riding horse.

3 She loves to ride horses and assists ranch duties, She lives with grandparents in El Paso, Texas.

4 She enjoyed school. She skipped several grades and graduated in high school at sixteen. She graduated in 1950 from Stranford University. In 1952 she received a bachelor degree. In 1969, she appointed by Governor Jack Williams to be the state senator. In 1974 as a judge in the Maricopa County Superior Court. In 1979 she was selected to serve state’s court of appeals.

5 Sandra Day O’Connor was first woman to be nominated by President Reagan in 1981 justice the Supreme Court. She opened women in the legal field. Sandra Day O’Connor is famous for this quotation, “The power I exert on the court depends on the power of my arguments, not on my gender”.

6 Sandra Day O’Connor retired as a judge on January 31, 2006. She divides her time between Washington, D. C. and Arizona. In 2009 President Obama honored her with the President MedaL of Freedom
