Steps to writing a good hypothesis: 1: Look at your testable question 2: Using knowledge that you have from observations you have made, make an educated guess/prediction of what you think will happen. 3. Form a statement in the format –“ If…(independent variable/cause), then…(dependent variable/effect),… because”

1. What is the effect of shoe brand, Nike or New Balance, on running speed?”

If I wear New Balance shoes then I will run faster because they feel better on my feet.

2. What is the effect of carbon dioxide on atmosphere temperature?

If there is more carbon dioxide in the atmosphere then it will be warmer because it forms a layer like a blanket that traps heat in.
