General Writing Assessment Task Achievement Does the writing communicate the information it should? Has the student answered the question? Is the writing comprehensible?

General Writing Assessment Appropriateness Is the style appropriate? Is it too formal or informal? Is there proper referencing? Organization Does it have good paragraphing? Is there a start, middle, and an end? Is there cohesion, within and between paragraphs?

General Writing Assessment Range of Language Does the writer use a range of grammatical structures? Is there a variety of grammatical structures? Is the range of vocabulary good?

General Writing Assessment Accuracy of language Is the grammar correct, including sentence structure, subject-verb agreement, verb tenses, determiners

General Writing Assessment In other words… - Overall effectiveness - Content - Organization - Vocabulary - Conventions - Appropriateness

Giving Feedback NO point in telling the students just to write better and improve their grammar. Feedback needs to be FOCUSED CONSTRUCTIVE
