4. Marshall’s Federalist Court Marbury v. Madison: sets up the Supreme Court with power of Judicial review (power to rule laws and actions of other branches unconstitutional) McCulloch v. Maryland: decided that states could not sue the national government- established national supremacy (power) Gibbons v. Ogden: decided that the national government gets to decide conflicts between the states
